What a wonderful community we have! Aren’t we fortunate to be living here!
Wondering what your local Civil Defence team has been doing during the Covid-19 Lockdown, level 4?
Your our local Civil Defence team may have seemed quiet over the past 3 weeks, some of our team have isolated under the Level 4 Lockdown ‘high-risk category’ or have vulnerable family members in their ‘Bubble’. Those who are able to respond have been helping the Canterbury Civil Defence, Emergency Control Centre in the “Needs Assessment Section”.
Locally, team members have been monitoring the community needs through the Diamond Harbour Facebook page. As members of our communities, each of the CD team belongs to more than one community group and if/when they see where there is a need, we will respond to it.
Our community has responded in its amazing way as it did in 2010, 2011 Earthquakes with everyone in the community checking on friends and neighbours.
Locally everyone seems to be coping well with Level 4 Lockdown, with the support of DH medical team, the local Fire Brigade, James and Laura from On the Spot. A big THANKS to all of them.
The Teddy Bears in the window have brought smiles to so many people while they are walking around the block.
Some of us, especially those living alone, have been finding ‘isolation’ very lonely but having a daily walk will often find others to say “hello” to, while keeping the required 2 metre physical distance
A friendly phone call to those you know are living alone may be really appreciated.
One way some small groups of individuals are connecting is by ‘Zoom’ meetings, online video meetings which also enables groups such as the local churches and Fire Brigade to meet ‘virtually’.
Facebook, Messenger, Skype and WhatsApp etc have all proved useful contact opportunities during our Lockdown.
