Santa is coming to town

A happy Daithi Thomasson receiving his present from SantaSanta bringing joy to the tamariki of Diamond Harbour Playcentre and Diamond Harbour School

All the children from Playcentre and the school Pukeko class welcomed Father Christmas at the end of term 4 to our Christmas grotto at Playcentre.
He came on his Fire Engine singing and ringing his bell and asked the children to sing to him so that his Christmas magic would appear. They all gathered around and gave him a rousing version of Jingle Bells. Father Christmas and his two Little Helpers then handed out presents to the very excited children.
All the children gathered for a group photograph beside the Fire Engine and Daithi Thomasson asked why did Santa come on a Fire Engine and not his sleigh? His fast thinking mother answered, He uses his Fire Engine in the daytime and his sleigh with the reindeer on Christmas Eve so he can get to see all the children of the world… Phew!
We would like to take this opportunity to thank Don Cameron, Tom Clark and Peter Hughan for so generously giving their time and making Santa’s visit so special for all the children.
Also a special thank you to Niki Stephenson, Pukeko class teacher, for bringing the children on a visit to Playcentre. Some of these children have only recently attended Playcentre so it was lovely to see them all grown up.
Lastly all the Playcentre families would like to give a very big thank-you to Alex Foster for taking on the role of coordinator on a voluntary basis and ensuring we can still operate this amazing facility for all our local tamariki.
This term we are looking forward to incorporating a water theme to our activities. We plan to make use of the warmer days with water play, ice, bubbles and more and are hoping to make a trip down to Purau beach to play and gather some treasures.
Sessions are currently running on a Monday from 9am-12noon. Our numbers remain low so we would love any new families with children aged 0-6 years to come and have a look at our unique centre. If you enrol, we suggest a donation of $35 a term and children under 12 months are free. We look forward to welcoming some new families to our centre this year.

If you would like any further information please phone Playcentre (during sessions): 329 4515 or Amy Paulsen (coordinator): 021 766 248 or Anna Blundell (president): 021 141 6923 or email: diamondharbourpc@gmail.com.
