Lively reels, jigs, haunting slow airs played on wooden flute and fiddle. Robert Zielinski and Manuela Centanni are known for their tone, their arrangements and uncanny unison playing, blending music from Ireland, Scotland, Shetland as well as Robert’s original compositions inspired by the Great Southern region of Western Australia.
In particular, excerpts from his upcoming album Kiangardarup – The Torbay Suite, which they will premiere in the Perth Concert Hall in May. Australian born Robert Zielinski has spent 14 years living on the West Coast of Ireland, immersing himself in the music of the older generation. In 2000 he won Ireland’s Michael Coleman Traditional Fiddle Player of the Year Award.
Manuela Centanni received a bachelor degree in flute performance from Bologna Conservatoire, and began playing Irish music in New Zealand. They have spent the last year playing many memorable concerts in Australia and are delighted to be back in New Zealand for the South Island tour.
